Festivals and carnivals occur all year round in North Norfolk, but some of the best family friendly festivals can be found in the summer months. This summer is no different, and there are a wide variety of fun-filled festivals for you and your family
Sheringham Carnival is a much loved annual event that includes plenty of light-hearted fun for all the family, including sandcastle competitions, beach sports and duck racing!
The carnival has been running for over 50 years, and is manned entirely by volunteers. Sheringham Carnival 2017 gets underway on Saturday 29th July and ends on Sunday 6th August.
Wells Carnival is anoter great family carnival featuring plenty of wholesome entertainment. The week-long, traditional summer carnival features a procession through the town, including floats and fancy dress. Elsewhere, there are a number of traditional seaside activities for you and the family to get involved with, such as sandcastle competitions and crabbing on the quay.
Wells Carnival 2017 runs from Friday 28th July to Sunday 6th August.
Hunstanton Kite Festival
Organised by Hunstanton Rotary Club, the Hunstanton Kite Festival is a long-running annual festival. Kite displays are the main focus of this festival, but there are other family orientated events too, including a dog show, a falconry display, a craft fair and a number of kids activities.
The Hunstanton Kite Festival 2017 is held on Sunday 20th August, from 11:00 - 18:00.
World Pier Crabbing Championships
The World Pier Crabbing Championships at Cromer Pier is a great family day out. Enter your family as a team and try and win the grand prize by catching the most crabs! Even if you get tired of catching crabs, there's plenty of other things for you and the family to do throughout the day, including market stalls and entertainers.
The 2017 World Pier Crabbing Chamiponships at Cromer Pier takes place on Sunday 27th August.
If you're looking for a fun family weekend then check out the Worstead Festival. The first Worstead Carnival was held in 1966 to raise money for repairs to the village church. Fifty years later, the festival is still going strong, and continues to raise money for good local causes.
The Worstead Festival includes a number of family favourites, including rural crafts, dog shows, music and medieval knights!
The 2017 Worstead Festival is on Saturday 29th July - Sunday 30th July, 10:00 - 18:00.
A firm favourite on the North Norfolk summer schedule, the Cromer Carnival offers something for all the family to enjoy. Aside from the traditional floats and fancy dress, the main playing field on the east side of town plays host throughout the week to numerous carnival attractions, including a fun fair, craft tents and children's entertainment.
The Cromer Carnival takes place throughout the day from Saturday 12th August - FRiday 18th August.
